MEET MARY DOUBLE
Coach. Founder. Pittsburgh's standard-setter.

Mary is a personal trainer and sports performance coach with over five years of experience helping people build strength, move better, and stay healthy through every stage of life. She works with clients of all ages and fitness levels, with a primary focus on training athletes to improve performance, prevent injuries, and develop long-term strength.
A former dual-sport collegiate athlete in soccer and track and field, Mary competed for four years at Muskingum University before continuing at the University of Mount Union, where she completed her Master of Education in Coaching with a focus on sports coaching and strength training.
She holds certifications as a Personal Trainer, Nutrition Specialist, and Sports Performance Specialist. She currently works at Essential Strength of Pittsburgh and coaches soccer and strength at Steel City FC — where she also competed for four seasons on the Women's First Team.
Double Standard is not just a clever play on her name — though it is that. It is a declaration of purpose. Mary built it because Pittsburgh's women deserve a coach who gets it.
Soccer Pedigree
A decade-plus of results with female athletes gives Mary instant credibility with parents, clubs, and performance-minded clients.
Postpartum Expertise
New moms are underserved everywhere. Mary actually understands the physiology, the emotional landscape, and the practical constraints.
Rehab Foundation
A background in physical training and rehabilitation means you get injured less and progress faster. Every session has injury prevention built in — not bolted on after the fact.
Pittsburgh Roots
Mary has trained women across Pittsburgh for over a decade. She knows the gyms, the teams, and the community — because she's been part of it from the start.
“I got tired of watching women get handed programs that weren't designed for them. So I built something that was.”
